I've been buried in a damn basement, building up nice bikes, that's cool, but a no-mobile-network-workplace is not cool at all! :(

Don't really have much to say as far as Tech News. All that I've been into is a proper secret that a London-based company told me to keep.
So, my mouth (and my keyboard) has to be shut.
Blah....

Pity, as there were some niiiiice Team frames, that are forbidden to post here, and now ;)

Yes, there's people around that can manage such BIG MESS, then say "oh well, I've just been riding and.... sbraaang!"

Had ONLY to change ALL the drive side spokes, say 60 quids.

Dunno how much the guys at the counter made up for.
But am sure it will hurt!

Killing time sorting out some rubbish under my bed...

Some of the bits are very easy to recognize!

It can be done, despite the NASTY clip holding the inner bearing, it needs a propre Technique to do it.
Here we go, as soon as the replacemente bearings will arrive, I'll put it back ;)

This is what it may happen, to powerful cyclists...

Broken freehub body, and bearings popping out.

Not that much I can do, if not replacing the whole unit ;)

But let's talk about REPLACING the bearngs inside the f/h.
Those bearings (#6803 - Rs or 2RS) need to have a large inner bore, to house the oversize Alu axle.
This means that the ball bearings are SMALL and after a while..... they get fucked!

So, let's start, move sideways the inner spacer, it would easily come a few mm away, just what you need to tap out the outer bearing.

Don't worry for this bearing, you are replacing it, aren't you??

Yup, outer bearing is out, note the amount of grease inside.

Those bearings are "RS" and not "2RS" as the lacking of seal to one side means they can be greased without dismantling..... doing so I guees would add 30gr of grease, if you are a weight-maniac....

Note the clip that holds the inner bearing, the "A" is the edge that you have to deal with.

To withdraw the nasty clip, you need a fairly flat screwdriver, about 5,5mm width and not too thick. And a smaller one (3-4mm) to pull out the clip as soon as you can fint the first screwdriver between the bocy and the clip.
A vice, and two layers of rag make it a lot easier. Do not clamp too much ;)

Now is off, the yellow line shows how to grind the clip, so next time won't be such a mess!

This is the code for the bearings :)
You can use "2RS" if you are not thinking to grease the inside, o the "RS".
My opinion is that the bearings will get smashed well before that the grease will run out. In fact, see how clean is the grease in the 4th pic ;)

Next step of the surgery very soon, got the new bearings now

Weird day, have to say.... pre-2000 l/h ergo service which took me some time as the main pivot was stuck (bloody harsehole! Track it as a lesson for the future: if it doesn't run smoooooooth, just SORT IT!), then oh whatever the shit went on.
And an Isis BB that had the CUP threads stripped, so wansn't unscrewing at all.
Only thing I could do was two symmetrical cuts, then squeeze the shell and tap it out.

Honestly I had jobs far more complicated. It's all about feeling when to stop.

This was easy as it was a steel frame with alu b.b. cups so you can feel when you've cut the alu cup and being close to the steel shell ;)

....then we had good time for the Xmas dinner.
We were by far the most noisy ones in the reasturant!

What about having 35 (thirty-five) Wolf Superlite carbon forks without the steerer?

Seems a big waste for me to throw them away, as they're absolutely not usable as bike forks anymore...... maybe I can do some hi-tech table legs???

Btw, Hope Red hub arrived :))) , rims for the HoneyMonster arrived (£45/each ......awwwww!!!), a bit of a boring day, except some nice D.A old cup/cone b.b. job on MiddleBurn cranks. Nice stuff
